Registration Procedures for 2011

Clubs hold REGISTRATION at different times of the year, mostly in spring (Midgets in Winter). There are no registrations past the 2nd Wednesday of September as the rosters are finalized that day. Rosters may hold up to 45 players but most team rosters contain somewhat fewer. Both BOYS and GIRLS are encouraged to participate. You will be required to complete the appropriate registration forms. You will be asked to bring evidence of the registrant’s date of birth (Birth Certificate & Alberta Health Care Card) that will be verified by the designated registrar for the team you are registering to play with. For Bantam and Midget level football, please bring the latest Report Card showing only the name of the player, school and grade that the player will be in for the current calendar year.
In compliance with Information Privacy, please know that no copies of this information will be collected.

Each club has been assigned a recruitment area. Have a look at the map within the Team Finder page on this site to find the club closest or most convenient to you. If you live outside a club's recruitment area but, for some reason such as family or close friends, you may be able to sign up to play with any Club provided that Club is able to secure a release from the Clubs in your recruitment area.

There are 3 formal age groups for minor football in Alberta. We have added a 4th group to the CDMFA ... the "Midgets". Midget players will be graduating Bantams (grade 9’s) and Grade 10 and 11 players who are not turning 19 in the calendar year. Atoms (players who turn 10 or under before December 31 of the current year - very few 8 year olds are mature enough to play tackle football. Even fewer 7 year olds have the necessary attention to detail), Peewee (players who turn 11 or 12 during the current year) and Bantam (players who turn 13, 14 or 15 during the current year and who are not entering grade 10 in September of this year). Another way of saying the same thing for the 2011 season is, Atoms are players born during 2001 or since 2001. Peewees are players born in 2000 or 1999, and Bantams are players born in 1998, 1997 and 1996 who are not going into high school this fall. There are no weight classes for minor football in Alberta. The decision to play rests with the child and the parent. Please do not ask for your child to play at a lower age class because he/she is small. There are no exceptions to this rule as set by Football Alberta in order to be eligible for Provincial playoffs.

Each club sets their own registration fees. Generally the fees are around $300 for the complete season and this will include all equipment except footwear and what is personal in nature. Some clubs require players to purchase additional items such as practice pants. Please consult with your child's team representatives if you have specific questions on this.
